New Arsenal News aggregation site in testing

October 24th, 2008

Just letting you know what is going on round here at the moment, and giving you a scoop on a new Arsenal News site that is launching.

Firstly, apologies for the lapse/delays in posting of late, I’m currently organising my imminent escape from Germany (yay!) and it’s taking up a lot of time. If any Arsenal fans with opinions they want to air are interested in contributing to the blog, give me a shout via the contact form.
I made a couple of adjustments to the layout of Arsenal Online last night, making the page more static with less backend queries, so it should now hopefully load a little faster.

I’ve also been working on a new social Arsenal News aggregator, Don’t want to buzz it up too much just yet as it is in a very early stage of development at the moment, I’m still working on the core functionality and chasing bugs, but you can take a look at the work in progress if you wish at ArsenalNews.co.uk.
Please help me out with the development of the site by letting know me if you have any problems, and telling me what you think of it in the comments.

As you can see, the site is similar in some ways in functionality to the other Arsenal News aggregators, it pulls in the latest Arsenal news from various sources, but I have given it a bit of a twist, you are able to register and submit your own stories from your Arsenal blog or any great Arsenal articles you come across on the web, vote stories up and down, and comment on the news all in one place. I’m working a lot on adding more features, WordPress plug-ins and whatnot, I still have a ways to go on the design, but just wanted to show it to the readers of this blog so that you can all help me out in testing the site. Check it out!

Arsenal were brilliant against Fenerbache and if we had a left winger as good as clichy we would be even better. Walcott is starting to prove him self and Fabregas produced some great assists but Arsenal still need to be a bit carefull at the back. We need to finish the chances we get and we need to stooooopppppp messing about with the ball in are area in the last 15 mins.

Hi charilaos, thanks for the comment.

Interesting what you said about needing a left winger, don’t forget Nasri is just getting started with the team this year and will need some time to settle in. Also Rosicky should (hopefully!) return at some point.

I’m really not worried about the attacking side of Arsenals game, I think that is our biggest strength and as these players mature we will be certain of one of the best attacking forces in the world. My main concern is for the defence, which is exacerbated by the injury tally clocking up yet again. Wenger actually mentioned the defensive situation today, he stated that the club’s scouts were searching for a defender to buy pre-season but could not find any young first-class defenders!
